MediaTek introduces Pump Express 3.0 fast charging solution
As mobiles are getting smarter, batteries are getting bigger and charging times are getting longer. An ideal smartphone must have a long battery life and it must get charged quickly. We have seen some advancements in the battery charging technology recently. Quick Charge technology by Snapdragon is quite famous. Apart from processor manufactures, mobile manufactures like Asus, LeTV, Oppo, Gionee, etc have been researching on the same lines and they do have some decent solutions in the market.
MediaTek has announced its proprietary battery charging technology called the Pump Express 3.0. The Pump Express 3.0 enabled mobiles can be charged from 0-70% in less than 20 minutes. MediaTek requires USB-C type port so that it can directly charge the battery bypassing the integrated circuits. Similar to the Quick Charge 3.0, Pump Express 3.0 communicates with the device and adjusts the voltage required for charging it. Pump Express 3.0 also claims to have taken care of safety issues by including about 20 protection systems. The MediaTek Pump Express 3.0 technology will be available in the MediaTek Helio series P20 with devices expected to be in the market by end of 2016.
