Acer brings wide array of Laptops and tablets to the market

Over the past few days, Acer has made many announcements bringing a wide range of products into the market. These included laptops, tablets and some notebooks with new form factors. Majority of these devices are powered by Windows 8 Operating System.

Acer Aspire R7

Acer Aspire R7, a Windows 8 notebook has an interesting form factor and is the notebook that was recently teased in a Star Trek trailer. R7 comes with what Acer calls ‘Ezel hinge’ that turns the notebook into an All-in-One or flip the display over to make the display visible in front of you and you can also flip and lie the display flat on the base to turn it into a tablet (a heavy and thick tablet though) as you can see in the picture below. The display has a 15.6″ FullHD panel that supports capacitive multi-touch. This model is available for purchase at Best Buy from 17th of May and will come with a base price of $1,000. There are three USB ports, HDMI port, a proprietary port that allows you to connect VGA, ethernet and USB and audio jacks are available. Under the hood, there is a 1.8GHz Core i5 low voltage processor, 6GB of RAM, 24GB of SSD, 500GB of HDD and Dolby powered 8W stereo speakers.

Aspire V5 and V7 notebooks

Aspire V5 and V7 are ultralight notebooks with both offering h14″ and 15″ displays and there is an option to go for a 11.6″ display with V5. Users can select either 1080p FullHD resolution panel or can go with 1366×769 resolution panel. Acer offers various CPU choices (dual core and quad core from AMD and Intel) and also offers Geforce GTX7xxM and Radeon HD8750 graphics. These notebooks will be available in the markets by end of May with a base price of $499.

Acer Aspire P3 Windows 8 tablet

After ridiculing Windows 8 and Windows RT for a while, Acer has finally started to embrace the new OS. Aspire P3 is a Windows 8 11.6″ tablet (that works more or less like Microsoft Surface Pro) that is powered by Core i3 or i5 series processor. Display resolution is set to be 720p and users have choice to pick either 60GB of 120GB SSDs. Aspire P3 notebook is supplied with a keyboard cover (as shown in the image below) that turns the tablet into a full fledged notebook computer. Other features are 5mp camera, 720p HD front facing webcam, full size USB port, mini-HDMI port. P3 has already reached stores in USA and costs $800.

Acer W3 Windows tablet

Acer W3 is an eight inch tablet running Windows 8 OS and is already listed on Amazon for just $349.99. Acer Iconia W3-810-1600 tablet is powered by an Intel Atom dual core processor Z2760, an 8.1″ 1280×800 resolution display with TFT LCD panel that supports 10 point multi touch, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless, Bluetooth 4.0+EDR, 2MP Rear-facing camera, 2MP Front-facing camera, 1 – Micro USB 2.0 Port, 1 – Micro-HDMI with HDCP support, 2-Cell Li-Polymer (3500 mAh) Battery that gives up to 8-hours Battery Life. The tablet comes bundled with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 edition

Acer Iconia A1 Android tablet

Acer continues to try its luck in Android tablet market by releasing Iconia A1 Android tablet. A1 has a 7″ 1024×768 resolution IPS LCD, powered by a quad core 1.2GHz MediaTek SoC, 1GB of DDR3L RAM, 8GB/16GB eMMC storage, 0.3MP (640×480) front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera (with 1080p video support), microSD slot with support for up to 32GB, Micro USB 2.0, Micro HDMI, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n, and an 18.6Wh  battery that provides upto eight hours of battery life. Iconia A1 16GB will be available from June for a price tag of $200.
