[CES 2015] Razer joins the Android TV bandwagon, announces Forge TV for gamers
A lot of action has been going in the run up and now during the CES. Many companies are hopping on to the Android TV bandwagon, and Razer is the latest entrant. The company has announced an Android TV based streaming box aimed at gamers.
To make sure it has enough power to stream games to a TV in Full HD resolution, Razer is using a Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 2 GB RAM and connectivity options in the form of Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1. There’s a storage space of 16 GB.
Razer will be using its Cortex Stream service to make sure you can stream not only Android games, but even PC games. The Cortex Stream service supports games with DirectX9 and higher, which should cover almost all of the modern games out there.
Razer is aiming to start selling the Forge TV in Q1 of this year. The company has priced the box at $100. If you buy it with the Serval controller, it’ll set you back by $150. The Serval controller itself costs $80 if bought separately.
