Users can connect 2.5mm 4 pole headphones/earphones/speakers or 3.5mm (regular) devices and can even listen to music via Bluetooth wireless network. Output via the 2.5mm 4 pole supports the more standard Balanced (BTL) drive as well as the more esoteric ACG (Active Control GND) drive. BTL supplies increased power while ACG is all about stable output with high SNR, better spatial dimensionality, better delineation for lower frequencies (Hi-Res audio) etc.

Users can store music in 32GB of internal storage and can expand using dual micro-SDXC card slots and the player even supports USB On-The-Go (OTG) where in you can connect a pen drive using microUSB port. You can expand the storage up to a maximum of 432GB (not including the USB OTG). The equalizer has 16,384 discrete bands to select from and users can store up to a thousand equalizer profiles. Talking about hardware, there is a quad core 2.2GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage. The pair of ESS Technology Sabre ES9018K2M DACs and Sabre SABRE9601K amps provide stellar audio quality.

The DP-X1 can play music for (up to) 16 hours. DP-X1 also comes with preloaded OnkyoMusic app and supports OnkyoMusic music download server for High Resolution (Hi-Res) audio files.
