Asus Zenfone Zoom S launched for Rs 26999
Asus makes some really good mobiles, but they usually compromise on something or the other. The entire Zenfone 3 series have one common compromise: High Price. So it gave us an impression that all of Asus mobiles are pricey! I found the majority of the models on the Zenfone 3 series to be really good, but some lacked a good processor, some were overpriced and some had weak specifications. But Asus promises that the future will be different. Here is the first mobile from Asus that fulfills that promise: The Zenfone Zoom S.
Zenfone Zoom S (ZE553KL) is the first dual camera mobile from Asus. The mobile is priced at Rs 26999 and I feel that it is rightly priced for the specifications and features it offers. Here are the key highlights of the mobile
- The mobile is just 8mm thin and weighs 170 grams. It has a metal unibody design
- It comes with a TPU bumper case out of the box
- The display is full HD AMOLED and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- It has dual lens. One 12 MP camera has 25mm lens and the other 12 MP has a 59 mm lens. The 59mm lens offers 2.3x optical zoom.
- The rear camera has Optical image stabilization
- It has tri-tech autofocus: Laser, PDAF and Contrast detection focus systems
- The 13 MP front camera has a wide 140-degree area of coverage
- Apart from the usual bunch of modes in the Pixel master camera, the manual mode also lets you click raw photos.
- The mobile is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with fast charge and reverse charging support.
- It has USB-C port
- It is powered by Snapdragon 625 with Adreno 506 GPU.
- It has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage
- It has 5 magnet speaker with DTS for headphones and Hi-Res audio for speakers
So far Asus has done everything right and I find only two things missing. The mobile does not have any kind of waterproofing and it is running on Android Marshmallow. But looking at the track history of Asus, they were one of the first in the market to give Nougat update to a skinned OS. So I believe the Nougat update will be rolled out soon on this mobile. The price is also perfect. There is no other mobile in the market, that offers all the above features in this segment.
The spec sheet looks promising and the pricing is exciting. But I have to get my hands on the mobile to decide about its performance. It is available on Flipkart. Here is the link to buy it.
