OnePlus apologizes for messing up launch of OP2, will setup open sale for an hour in October

Carl Pei, founder of OnePlus has apologized to everyone awaiting to buy the OnePlus 2 for messing up the launch, again. It looked like OnePlus was not able to learn from the mistakes from the sales of OnePlus One and though they announced a better and faster invites system, in the end, it turned out to be another slow and agonizing wait for invites for fans. Before launch, OnePlus said that getting invites for the OnePlus 2 is30x-50x easier when compared to OnePlus One when it was launched. But it took a month for OnePlus to sort out inventory and ship meaningful quantities. To make up for this, OnePlus will have a ‘open sale’ for an hour next month (in October) where anybody can order OnePlus Two without an invite during the one hour window. Still, going by broken promises of OnePlus, we are skeptical if this will happen.

Since the launch of flagship devices from top brands and given that Motorola is getting ready for global launch of Moto X series of phones, the hype of OnePlus Two has come down drastically and is this another way of creating more buzz for OnePlus Two, we don’t know. Will the open sale surely happen next month? We dont’ know. This company had a full year to launch just one device. Yet, not being able to ship handful of units, compromising on key features when the company punch line is ‘Never Settle’ shows the lack of enthusiasm within the company. We do hope that OnePlus sorts out this mess and start behaving like a global brand.
