HP announce new ENVY and Pavilion X2 models

HP has announced updates to the Pavilion X2 detachable 2-in-1 computer and also for HP Envy 14” and 15.6” notebooks. Pavilion X2 will be available for sale from 21st of July in USA with a starting price of $299.99 while ENVY 15.6” and 17.3” models will be available from August 30th and July 5th respectively . 15.6” model will cost $629.99 for AMD powered variant and $799.99 for Intel powered variant. 17.3” ENVY will be available with a starting price of $999.99. HP ENVY 14” will be available with starting price of $699.99 from July 2015.

The Pavilion X2, designed for productivity comes with a magnetic connector that doesn’t require a latch to attach the tablet to the keyboard dock. Users can use the device in tablet mode, in stand mode for movies and in tent mode for playing games. Weighing just 1.29 pounds (2.48 pounds with dock included), the Pavilion X2 is 9.65mm thick.

Biggest change is the addition of USB Type-C connector and also includes a micro-HDMI port to connect to external display or TV using HDMI cable. The display size is 10” diagonal and has HD 720p resolution.
Pavilion X2 is powered by an Intel Atom chip, can be configured to have up to 64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded using micorSD card slot. They keyboard built into the dock is a full size keyboard with 1.5mm key travel. There are two front facing speakers with B&O Play and the HP TrueVision Webcam can do 720p video calling/recording. Coming to battery life, Pavilion X2 can stay on for up to 10.75 hours while playing FullHD video.

“Customers want devices that are portable without sacrificing battery life or power,” said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer Personal Systems, HP. “For 2015, we are reinventing our ENVY notebook product line to deliver great battery life, thinner and lighter designs, bright, high resolution displays and Bang & Olufsen audio for better entertainment, communications and productivity experiences.”

HP Envy ultrabooks are well known for their aesthetics and performance. 2015 variants follow the same3 path, thanks to a curved profile, elevated lift hinge that not only aides in air circulation under the device but also provide users comfortable typing experience.

For the 15.6”, users can opt between fifth generation Intel Core i5/i7 and sixth generation AMD FX and A10 APUs. Users can also select Nvidia GeForce 940M, GTX 960M or AMD Radeo R7 or R6 dedicated graphic cards.

Coming to storage, users can add up to 2TB of storage (hybrid HDD) or an SSD whilte for AMD powered devices, HP is offering up to 1TB of storage. Memory for Intel variant will top out at 16GB while it is at 8GB for AMD variant.

Diplay : HP includes HD or FullHD non-touch display for 14” model and HD/FullHD/QuadHD+ touch or non-touch panel with Intel powered model. For AMD variant, its HD touch or non touch displays.

Ports : 14” (Intel/AMD) model comes with  three USB 3.0 ports. 15.6” (AMD) ENVY comes with 3 USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port while intel variant has four USB 3.0 ports.

The new 17.3” variants is powered by fifth generation Intel Core i7 chip and can be coupled with Nvidia GeForce 940M or GTX950M graphics cards. The 17.3” display is a FullHD IPS display panel (touch or non touch panels can be selected during purchase). Users can add up to 4TB of storage (HDD, hybrid HDD, SSD). There is a full size HDMI port and users can opt for a DVD or blu-ray drive.

The 17.3 inch HP ENVY notebook supports fifth generation Intel Core i7 processors and NVidia GeForce 940M or GTX 950M discrete graphics. Customers have the option of dual hard drives for up to 4TB of storage and choices of standard hard drives, hybrid hard drives or SSDs.
