ASUS ROG Phone 2 gaming phone announced, packed with features

ASUS RoG Phone 2, successor to last year’s Rog Gaming phone is now official and comes with wide range of interesting features. The new gaming phone comes powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus and has a 6.59″ display with small bezels at top and bottom. The best part is that when you are setting up the phone, you can opt for near stock Android experience. Even better, the phone comes with whopping 6000mAh battery. There is no detail on availability and pricing yet.

There is a lot to talk about this new phone but we will try to keep it as brief as possible.

The body is made out of hard-anodized matte black metal band and has front and black Gorilla Glass 6. Similar to the last year’s phone, this one too comes with RoG logo at the back and has black accent rim that gives the phone a unique look. The RoG logo is ASUS Aura compatible which means that you can make use of countless lighting effects to make the logo glow.

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 also comes with two USB Type-C ports, one at the bottom and one on the side of the phone. While you are using the phone in portrait mode, you can connect charger to the bottom of the phone and while you are gaming in landscape mode, you can use the port at the side so that the bottom port does not interfere with your grip. The side port comes with data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, thanks to USB 3.1 Gen 2. This means that it can output 4K footage to a display using DisplayPort. There is a proprietary port next to side USB Port. This can be used to connect accessories like TwinView Dock II, Mobile Desktop Dock, RoG AeroActive Cooler II etc.

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, the fastest process available in the market. There is whopping 12GB of RAM, up to 52GB of UFS 3.0 storage, you will never be out of RAM or storage.

The GameCool II heatsink system inside the ROG Phone II uses a 3D vapor chamber capable of dissipating as much as 7.5W of waste heat. We give the GameCool II system room to breathe with a strategically-placed vent to the outside on the rear of the phone, too. That level of thermal dissipation is glorious overkill for the Snapdragon 855 Plus, and it ensures that the ROG Phone II can run games and demanding applications at full speed for as long as your thumbs can keep up.

ASUS RoG Phone 2 comes bundled with the RoG AeroActive Cooler II, which you can use if you are into long gaming sessions and are playing in warm to hot environment.

Coming to display, the ASUS RoG Phone 2 comes with OLED display that has 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and 2340×1080 pixel resolution. This display can cover 108% of DCI-P3 color gamut, supports HDR.

There are two camera sensors at the back. Main camera is a Sony IMX586 48mp unit while secondary sensor has a 13mp unit. Front camera comes with a 24mp lens.

Other key specs include dual speakers, under display fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio port, Bluetooth 5.0, 240 gram weight, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad Wi-Fi.
