[CES 2021] Lenovo Legion 2021 lineup announced

Lenovo Legion has been the Chinese PC maker’s reply to Alienwares and RoGs of gaming laptop world. This year, Lenovo is bringing lot of reinforcements to battle it out and these are showcased at CES 2021. This CES®, Lenovo™ is delivering more stylishly high-performance gaming options with Lenovo Legion™ PCs and accessories full of hot gaming features and cooler thermals. This CES 2021, Lenovo is bringing Lenovo Legion 7, Legion 5 Pro, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5.

Lenovo Legion’s new 2021 laptops are amongst the first to feature the next-gen AMD Ryzen™ 5000 H-series Mobile Processors for remarkable performance. Take image realism to new heights with the stunning graphics effects of new Ray Tracing 2.0 with next-level NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ Laptop GPUs. What’s more, Lenovo Legion’s Harman® speakers are now optimized with Nahimic® Audio by SteelSeries. Prepare yourself for engaging 7.1 surround sound gaming when combined with your headset or external speakers for an upgrade from the prior 5.1 system.

Lenovo Legion 7

Powered by AMD Ryzen (up to) 9 5900H Mobile Processor and (up to) NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series Laptop GPUs, the top specced laptop should be able to churn out all modern games without breaking a sweat. The Lenovo Legion 7 comes with hinge mechanism that allows the display to be pushed 180 degrees. Other features include E-Shutter webcam, multiple zone RGB lighting, larger precision touchpad, Wi-Fi 6, HD webcam. You can add up to 32GB of 3200MHz DDR 4 RAM, up to 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The onboard battery can keep the laptop online for up to 8 hours and supports Rapid Charge Boost for ultra fast charging. Other specs include Bluetooth 5.1, dual 2W Harman speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax.

The Lenovo Legion 7 comes with 16″ panel supporting 100% sRGB color gamut. Also, thanks to 16:10 aspect ratio, you get more screen area. The IPS display panel has 2560×1600 pixel resolution, has up to 500nits of brightness, 165Hz refresh rate and offers optional VESA® DisplayHDR™ 400 certification. Thanks to super thin bezels, Lenovo achieved 90% screen to body ratio. The display also supports Dolby Vision and Nvidia GSYNC.The Lenovo Legion 7 laptop is first to be certified as a High Gaming Performance Display with low blue light by TÜV Rheinland.

Coming to ports, the Lenovo Legion 7 has truckload of ports and these include:

  • Left Side : 1x Type-C, 1x audio port.
  • Right Side : 1x Type-C, 1x E-Shutter button.
  • Rear : 3x Type-A USB, 1x Type-C, 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x RJ-45 ethernet, 1x DC-in power.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7

Lenovo Legion Slim 7, powered by AMD Ryzen 7 5900H Series CPU, comes with a 15.6″ display and beautiful build. The display comes in two variants. One is 4K IPS panel with 60Hz refresh rate and 100% Adobe RGB color gamut and the other option is FullHD IPS panel with 165Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB color gamut. Both panels support Dolby Vision. This is also the world’s lightest laptop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPU. The new generation NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs bring Ray Tracing and Tensor Cores to enable AI features and better graphics performance.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 comes with white keyboard backlighting or you can opt for Corsair iCUE RGB lighting. Power button comes with built in fingerprint reader, there is a 720p HD webcam with sliding camera shutter. Other specs include Wi-Fi 6 support, 1.9kg weight, 71WHr battery, Rapid Charge Express support.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is powered by latest AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop graphics. Also, Legion 5 Pro comes with Dual Burn support that pushes CPU and GPU for higher frame rate in games. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro comes with 16″QHD IPS display panel that supports 165Hz refresh rate and supports 100% sRGB color gamut. Also, the new panel supports up to 500nits brightness. The display comes with 16:10 aspect ratio and thanks to slim bezels, Lenovo is able to push to 90% screen to body ratio.

The new Legion cover design looks very good on the Legion 5 Pro, especially in Stingray White chassis. Other features include better rear vents for better cooling during extended gaming session, larger touchpad, DolbyVision and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.

Lenovo Legion 5

The Lenovo Legion 5, powered by AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Mobile Processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series Laptop GPUs, comes in 15″and 17″display sizes. This one comes with simple black chassis, clean lines and runs Windows 10 operating system.

The Lenovo Legion 5 comes with FullHD IPS panels that offer up to 144Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut. The 15.6″ model supports higher 165Hz refresh rate. The 15-inch laptop weighs 2.4 kg (5.3lbs) and is offered in Phantom Blue with optional 4-Zone RGB lighting effects, or in new Stingray White hue with blue back lighting.

The Lenovo Legion 5 comes with high efficiency heat pipes via Coldfront 3.0, Lenovo Q-Control powered by enhanced AI technology.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

  • The Lenovo Legion 7 laptop will start at $1669.99 and is expected to be available starting June 2021.
  • The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 laptop is expected to be available starting May 2021 and pricing is not available at this time.
  • The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop (known as the Lenovo Legion 5P previously) will start at $999.99 and is expected to be available starting March 2021.
  • The Lenovo Legion 5 laptop available in 15-inch or 17-inch screen size will start at $769.99 and is expected to be available starting March 2021.
