TWRP 3.0 released with brand new Material theme and more

If you are an Android enthusiast who tinkers with his phone, chances are you have the popular and open source TWRP recovery installed on your Android phone. While Android as a whole has left its holo past behind, TWRP was still stuck in those dark ages. Not anymore, though. The three member dev-team behind TWRP has released a new update with a brand new theme.

TWRP 3.0

The new TWRP 3.0 update is rolling out to almost all the devices that were supported before. In addition to a new theme, this update also brings a true terminal emulator. Here is a complete changelog of TWRP 3.0:

  • Completely new theme – Much more modern and much nicer looking
  • True Terminal Emulator – Includes arrow keys, tab and tab completion, etc.
  • Language translation – It won’t be perfect and especially some languages that require large font files like Chinese & Japanese won’t be availble on most devices. Also some languages may only be partially translated at this time. Feel free to submit more translations to OmniROM’s Gerrit.
  • Flashing of sparse images – On select devices you will be able to flash some parts of factory images via the TWRP GUI
  • Adopted storage support for select devices – TWRP can now decrypt adopted storage partitions from Marshmallow
  • Reworked graphics to bring us more up to date with AOSP – includes support for adf and drm graphics
  • SuperSU prompt will no longer display if a Marshmallow ROM is installed
  • Update exfat, exfat fuse, dosfstools
  • Update AOSP base to 6.0
  • A huge laundry list of other minor fixes and tweaks

If you want to update to the latest version of TWRP, you can download the recovery image from here. Make sure you download the correct version before flashing it on your device. GadgetDetail cannot be held liable for any damage you may cause to your device or this planet.
