If it is not working, you can manually add remote.

Select customize.
For each button to customize, press the button to configure and then press same button on the remote when the remote is pointing towards the phone’s IR sensor so that the phone can pick up the signal from remote. Once you have configured all keys, you can discard your TV remote and use the phone instead.
