InFocus Vision 3 – First Impressions

Rs 6999 - Cheapest Mobile with Edge to Edge Display

InFocus may be a new mobile company in India, but they have a long history in other parts of the world.  InFocus has launched a new mobile in India. The InFocus Vision 3 is the cheapest mobile with edge-to-edge display in India. It is priced at Rs 6999 and here are my first impressions of this mobile.

Design

InFocus Vision 3 has a run-of-the-mill design like any other budget mobile that was released this year.  It has a plastic body, but of good quality. It feels solid in the hand and it a bit heavy and thicker, probably due to the 4000 mAh battery.  The fingerprint sensor at the back is accurate. It has hybrid SIM tray. Over 82% of the front face is the display and a thin bezel display at this price bracket is a first of its kind.  The front has 8 MP camera and the back has a dual camera setup.  InFocus Vision 3 is a well-built mobile, but the design is not a head turner.

Display

It has a (5.7-inch) capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 720 pixels resolution and 282 PPI pixel density. The display is of good quality. Colors are accurate, but the white balance is a bit warm. Though it has a few preset in the display settings, the calibration seems to be slightly off. But it has good viewing angles. Visibility under all lighting conditions is good.

Software

InFocus Vision 3 is running on Android 7.0 with Smile UX skinned on top. It has very less bloatware, but still, a stock UI experience would have been a killer feature in this mobile. With what we have, the UI has a bunch of useful features and also a fully featured theme store.  It has loads of customization option. On my usage, I noticed no lag in the UI.

Camera

The camera is another highlight of this mobile. I think this is also the cheapest mobile to have a dual camera set-up. There are many mobiles with dual camera setup, but very few have a wide angle lens. InFocus Vision 3 has gone over the top and included a 5 MP wide-angle lens along with a 13 MP primary camera. I personally love dual lens mobile with wide angle lens. Also, the UI has a function to click dual shots combing both front and back camera.  This is something we have seen in Nokia 8, priced over Rs 30k. It also has portrait mode along with stickers, pro mode, time lapse, etc…

The quality of the shots is good for this price range of mobiles. I am yet to play around with this mobile to come to a conclusion. But you can have a look at some of my initial shots, taken with this mobile.

Hardware

Infocus Vision 3 is powered by a MTK6737H Quad-core 1.3GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. It supports USB OTG. It does not have a gyro or magnetic sensor for your VR and Map navigation. It has 4000 mAh battery. The specifications are clearly that of a basic mobile and this mobile is for anyone looking to buy an entry-level smartphone with all the trend highlights of 2017.

My First Impressions

I will have to spend a little more time with this mobile to come to a conclusion. But with what little time I spend, I have a positive feeling about this mobile. 2017 mobile had a dual camera and in the last quarter, we saw the trend shift to full vision displays. InFocus made the right choice, by including both these trends on a mobile that is priced affordably. Stay tuned for a detailed review on Gadgetdetail.
