Microsoft Edge is the final name of Project Spartan web browser

Microsoft has formally assigned a new name to the new Project Spartan web browser, signaling that the Internet Explorer browser will be phased out in a timely manner. This new Microsoft Edge browser was code named Project Spartan.

Microsoft has announced that the new Edge browser has been built from the ground up for Windows 10, so this rules out any possibility of Edge making it to the older versions of Windows – not even 8 or 8.1. This new Microsoft Edge web browser will come with note taking and the digital assistant Cortana built in, improving user experience to a great extent.

Microsoft Edge will support web extensions made via HTML and support for Javascript will also be present. Specifically, Chrome extensions can be made to work with Microsoft Edge with some adjustments. The Edge browser will come with a default layout that includes a new tab page, top sites and app, including user information.
