The mobile with the Best Battery Life from 2016

Battery Life is a key point to consider while buying a mobile. What good is a mobile, if it has all the best features in the world, but runs out of battery when you start using those features? Mobiles with large battery life, tend to be bulky in size,. But in the year 2016, that trend changed. We started seeing mobiles with sleek profile and a heavy battery life. Here is how we are going to choose the mobile with the best battery life. I have already asked the users in a survey to pick an option. The choice given to them are

  • Redmi Note 3
  • Gionee M5 Marathon
  • Asus Zenfone 3
  • Oneplus 3

This is a list I did not classify based on budget or performance. It is purely based on the battery life, no matter what it runs on or what it can do. I have reviewed most of the mobiles in the list and also have used them. So I will share my expert choice as well.

The results are out and Redmi Note 3 is clearly the winner here. OnePlus 3 and Asus Zenfone 3 Max follows closely behind and then the famous battery mobile from Gionee, the M5 Marathon. The Asus Zenfone 3 has a good battery life as well, but the people didn’t see it as a mobile that can last long on a single charge.

Expert Opinion

When I say the “mobile with the best battery life”, it has a lot of underlying meaning to it. Battery is the most important factor anyone must consider while buying a mobile phone. What is the use of the smartphone, if it can’t last a day? But there are mobiles out there in the market that have a huge battery, but takes really long to charge. Even if you run out of battery, you must be able to get back on your feet within a few minutes. So charging time and discharge time makes the mobile win the category title: “Mobile with the best battery life”.

If you have voted for Redmi Note 3, by now you would want to change your vote and choose the Oneplus 3. Yes, my vote is for the Oneplus 3. The Oneplus 3 has a revolutionary Dash Charge, that can get your mobile charged up to 60% in a matter of 30 minutes. Once charged to the brim it lasts longer than 2 days of normal usage. In my test, I was able to get over 4:30 hours of screen on time. For a power user like me, the mobile has about 20-25% at the end of the day, when I hit the bed. That may not be a great data point, but the combination of Dash charge, makes the mobile a clear winner. Oneplus 3 has 3000 mAh batter and the later part of the year, saw Oneplus launch the 3T with 3400 mAh battery. I am sure it will have better battery life than the OP3.

Redmi Note 3 is also a great mobile. At Rs 12k, this mobile comes with a sleek design and a 4000 mAh battery. It gave me about 4 hours of screen-on-time and it lasted for more than 2 days on a single charge. On rigorous usage, the mobile did have about 40-45% of charge left at the end of the day. I would have given the title to Redmi Note 3, but the lack of any quick charge mechanism made me not to. I still love the Redmi Note 3 for being a value for money mobile that gives the best battery life across multiple segments.

Asus Zenfone Max (2016) is a legend of a mobile. It has great battery life and it is my trusted partner on the go. But this year we saw the 3rd generation of Asus Zenfone Max hit the streets and we just loved it more than ever. It has a great battery life, but it lack fast charging. It has an upgraded 4100 mAh battery, but a downgraded Snapdragon 430 processor. At Rs 18999, the Zenfone 3 Max is not a recommended buy, but it does have a great battery life.

There is a reason I love the battery life on the Asus Zenfone 3, more than the Zenfone 3 Max and it is “Fast charging”. The ZE552KL has a 3000 mAh battery. It does not support quick charging, but it has fast charge. The stock charger is a 10W charger and I wish Asus has included its 18W turbo charger as a standard accessory. Luckily I have the turbo charger with me and I found that the mobile charges from 10-100% in under 1 hour using the turbo charger and it takes 1:45 min using the stock charger, which is still impressive. The mobile gives me a whooping 4:35 minutes of screen on time under intensive usage. Under normal usage, it lasts for more than a day.

So here is my final verdict. The “Mobiles with best battery life” are:

  1. Oneplus 3 – Review
  2. Redmi Note 3
  3. Asus Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) – Review
  4. Asus Zenfone Max (ZC550KL – 2016) – Review
  5. Asus Zenfone 3 Max ( ZC553KL) – Review
  6. Gionee Marathon M5

Out of the 6 mobiles, it is worth to note that 3 mobiles are from Asus. So Asus is doing a great job here. They have the best battery mobiles across multiple segments. Oneplus 3 is now upgraded to Oneplus 3T and once we have it to test, we can confirm that if will take over the reins from the Oneplus 3.
