Google Play awards are back
Google Play Awards are back this year. Google has announced that they will be announcing winners of Google Play awards at Google I/O that is set to take place on May 18th 2017. Nominees are selected by cross functional teams throughout Google. Hit the source link to find the full list of nominees for this years awards. Categories include ‘Best Android Wear Experience’, ‘Best TV Experience’, ‘Best VR Experience’, ‘Best AR Experience’, ‘Best App’, ‘Best Game’, ‘Best Social Impact’ etc. Five apps are picked from each category and one per category will be announced as winner. Criteria for selection was high star rating, technical performance and freshness, requiring a launch or major update since April 2016. Samsung Galaxy S8 gets 24k carat gold treatment
Legend is a brand that modified popular phones, give them gold job or leather detailing and sells the phone for a premium price. For Samsung Galaxy S8, Legend created 24k gold version with VVS1 grade diamonds studded into the back of the phone. For those who do not prefer bling can opt for exotic leather version. Exotic leather version comes in various colors (crocodile, lizard, ostrich, stingray, and shark) with diamonds studded within Samsung logo. The Gold plated S8 will cost 2,790 Euros while the leather cased S8 will cost 2,890 Euros.

Casio announce WSD-F20 smart watch android wear 2.0
Casio WSD-F20 is feature rich smartwatch designed for fitness enthusiasts and travelers. Casio WSD-F20 runs Android Wear 2.0 and has a 1.32″ dual layer 300×300 pixel resolution color TFT LCD as well as a monochrome LCD. Prominent features include Altimeter, Barometer, pressure sensor, Tide&Fishing time calculator, Compass, My Graph (daily activities pattern). Priced at $500, the Casio WSD-F20 is available in Black and Gold color options. With GPS enabled, the WSD-F20 will last a day and without GPS, you can expect month long battery life. Like most other Casio watches, the WSD-F20 is water resistant (up to 50 meters). Other features include Bluetooth 4.1, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage.

Gionee M6S Plus comes with 6GB of RAM and 6020mAh battery
Gionee M6s is another long battery life smartphone from the Chinese brand. Launched this week in China, The Gionee M6s Plus comes with massive 6020mAh battery and is priced at CNY3499 (just about 30k INR). The 256GB variant on the other hand is priced at CNY4200. There is a 12mp rear camera with LED flash and an 8mp front facing selfie camera. The M6s Plus will go on sale from 2nd of May. Disappointing aspect of the Gionee M6s Plus is that it runs two year old Android 6.0 Marshmallow, though the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 chip. There is 6GB of RAM onboard. The display is a 6″ FullHD Oncell AMOLED display.
TCL release VR headset for the 562 smartphone
The TCL 562 smartphone, currently priced at INR7999 gets a compatible VR headset. Priced t Rs.13,999/- the TCL 562 and VR Goggle bundle will be available at Amazon India and select retail stores in India. The headset connect the phone using microUSB port. TCL is providing VR store built in application from which users can download VR ready games.
