Motorola, subsidiary of Lenovo, has announced the much awaited Moto M Android smartphone in China. Priced at 1,999 Yen, the new Moto M is powered by MediaTek Helio P15 chip. The Moto M will be sold only in China for now and we do hope that Lenovo brings it to other marets.

Motorola has been successful in budget and mid range segment. This year, the premium Moto Z received positive reviews and Motorola has already sold a million units of Moto Z. Riding on the success wave, Motorola is expecting to sell a good number of Moto M, the new midrange Android smartphone. The Moto M is powered by MediaTek Helio P1t chip, with eight Cortex-A53 cores at clock speed up to 2.2GHz and Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. The P15 is more of a refined P10 chip. There is 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space onboard.

The display is a fullHD 5.5″ panel. There is a 13mp rear camera that has Phase Detect Auto Focus for fast capture. The front camera specs is not known yet. There is a dedicated SIM card slot and a hybrid port that accepts a SIM card or microSD card. As expected, the Moto M comes with splash proof water resistance but do not expect the phone to work if you go for a swim with phone in your pocket.

The battery is rated at 3050mAh. We do hope that Lenovo has optimized the performance of Helio P15 as MediaTek chips are not as power efficient as the new Qualcomm chips
