Nokia’s Here Maps app has been re-released for iOS, bringing a top notch mapping experience to Apple’s platform. The company which was an erstwhile Apple competitor has released its map app for free.

Here Maps

Nokia released a quickly hacked together webview maps app for iOS after the Mapgate more than an year ago. The company pulled this app a few months back. Since then, they’ve gone through a sale of a core division of the company to Microsoft. After things settled, the company released an Android version of the app exclusively for Samsung devices. After the expiration of exclusivity, Here Maps has been downloaded more than 4 million times from the Play Store with an average rating of 4.4 stars.

The new Here Maps app for iOS brings offline navigation, allowing you to download maps for an entire region/state to use them for navigating around the city even when you’re not connected to the internet. There’s the usual suspects – real-time traffic data, a hybrid engine that combines offline maps with real time data to save your mobile data etc.

You can go and download the app from the iTunes store here.
