Pi wireless charger can charge your phone from a distance

Pi wireless charger is the answer to all our charging needs. If you have couple of Qi compatible phones (Galaxy S8/note 8/iphone 8/iphone x etc) and have more than one at home, you can only charge one phone at a time using any Qi wireless charger. Pi on the other hand can charge all at once. All you need to do is place the devices next to the charger. If you are interested, you can reserver Pi wireless charger from PiCharging website. The charger is expected to be priced under 200$ and ship in 2018. Those who reserver early will get 50$ discount on retail price.

The Pi wireless charger is compatible with Qi wireless charging technology but you need a special case for your phone that support Pi wireless charging. Keep the cone shaped charging station on the desk where you normally keep your phone. Plug in the Pi compatible charging case and keep the phone near the base station.  Up to four phones can be charged at once at 10W charging wattage. If you have more than four devices, additional devices will charge at lower wattage. Pi charging uses electromagnetic charging tech based on resonant induction and is proven save given that the power levels required to charge phones etc is extremely low.

“Creating this technology required solving one of the most difficult mathematical problems in electromagnetics, and that’s why no one has done it before,” MacDonald, from MIT Sloan School of Management said. “Power is the final frontier in a truly wireless world.”

“Magnetic fields are the best way to send meaningful energy to phones, tablets, and other portable electronics,” Shi, Pi’s chief technology officer and co-founder, said. “The hard part was figuring out how to make magnetic charging more flexible, multi-device, and extend its useful range. It took over a year to complete the mathematical proof that makes it all possible.”
