Second generation Yotaphone announced, is the best among MWC 2014 smartphones

For the past two years or so, there is serious lack of imagination and creativity in the world of Smartphones. iPhone 5S looks like iPhone 4, almost every Lumia smartphone is based on Nokia N9’s design, GS5 is like GS3, Xperia Z2 is like Z, LG G2 is like G Pro and we can go on and on. At this years Mobile World Congress, we saw something amazing, innovative and with lot of potential. The Yotaphone. We agree that it sounds funny but here is a picture of the device, designed by Russian smartphone maker, yotaphone. The yotaphone will be available in EMEA and Russia in Q4 2014 and will be on sale in USA and Asian markets a quarter later.

Doesn’t it look absolutely gorgeous? While from one side, the phones looks like any regular smartphone powered by Android, the other sie though has an e-ink display. The first generation Yotaphone was ugly, terrible to use due to lag and app crashes, this one is a stunner with powerful hardware and UI done right. E-ink display is extremely light on battery, has very high sunlight legibility (looks just like ink on paper under direct sungliht), there is absolutely no strain on eyes. This phone is most suitable to those who read lot of books and having hard time getting used to LCD displays on phone that cause eye strain.

It is not just the aesthetics that this phone is good at. The front facing display is a 5″ IPS panel FullHD display, Android 4.4 kitkat is preloaded and is powered by Snapdragon 800 giving the phone a premium overall quality. Rear e-ink display is 4.7″ large and unlike the earlier model, is touch sensitive. Overall, the device is built to compete with flagship devices from leading brands and we sincerely hope that it makes some ground, sending a message to leading Android brands.
