Sony a99 II is the new A-mount flagship camera

Sony a99 II is the new A-mount interchangeable lens camera, set to replaced the super hit a99. Sony a99 II has 42.4-megapixel 35mm full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processing enging. Sony a99 II comes with new Translucent Mirror Technology and supports Hybrid Phase Detection Auto Focus.  The new ɑ99 II will start shipping in November, priced at approximately €3600.

The Sony a99 II has a back illuminated 42.4 Exmor R CMOS sensor with gapless-on-chip design to allow fast readout of large volumes of data. The sensor supports ISO range of 100-25600 and can be expanded to 50-102,400 ISO. A99 II comes with new-e 5-axis SteadyShot image stabilization system. The new precision gyro sensors can detect minute camera movements and negate blurring. The effect of IS can be monitored in view finder or on LCD screen live view (When shutter is half pressed).

The PDAF is capable of full time AF and this is the first time that Sony implemented 4D Focus in full fram a series. The hybrid auto focus system is created by 79-point phase detection AF and 399 focal plane PDAF. Thanks to the new hybrid AF, focusing in low light conditions is no more a problem and the AF system will function down to EV-4 brightness levels too.

Body of Sony a99 II is 8% smaller than that of a99. The grip is newly designed, the body is made from magnesium alloy, there are now dual SD cards so that you spend less time transfering data to your computer. The body is also dust and moisture resistant. All major buttons and dials come with seals and media jack cover and enclosure edges feature tongue and groove. The XGA OLED Tru-finder has ZEISS T Coating and has 4 element lens group that offers 0.78x magnification. The fluorine coating on outer lens prevents fingerprints, dust, water, oil and dirt on the lens.

Coming to video recording, the Sony a99 II comes with 4K video recording with full pixel readout and video can be stored in XAVC S format. a99 II also supports slow motion and quick motion recording (frame rates upto 1fps to 120fps). The frame rates can be selected in 8 steps for up to 60x quick motion and 5x slow motion recording.
