Synaptics could be making in-display fingerprint sensor for Samsung

The year 2017 was the year of full view displays. But what will 2018 have in store for us? Here is a hint of what is to come! Synaptics has announced that it will start mass production of the optical in-display fingerprint sensor. Synaptics has confirmed that 5 top mobile manufacturers have teamed up with them. So who are these top manufacturers? Apple may be developed their own in-display fingerprint sensor. The iPhone X was touted to have dropped the in-display sensor at the last moment, as Apple decided that this technology needs more development and testing cycles, before it goes mainstream.

Synaptics mentioned that this sensor is made for mobiles with infinity displays. Samsung calls their edge-to-edge displays as Infinity displays. So we can expect Samsung Galaxy S9 series to come with in-display fingerprint sensors. This sensor will work with wet and dry fingers. Samsung is the leader in making weatherproof phones and that is another hint there. Huawei, LG, Xiaomi, and HTC could be the others who have tied up with Synaptics. That is just my guess. But we know for sure is that the year 2018 is going to be an interesting year for the mobiles.
