Micromax release Canvas Tabby tablet for kids

Micromax has announced a new tablet, Canvas Tabby, targeting education sector. Micromax Canvas Tabby, priced at Rs.6,499/- will be available in white color and Flipkart will be the exclusive seller starting this week. Micromax will release the tablet to other retail and brick and mortar stores in near future. Powered by a Mediatek MTK8312 with dual core CPU, Canvas Tabby runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Micromax has partnered with Educren to provide specialized content for kids. There are over 100  applications and 500 videos pre loaded to help kids gain knowledge and have fun. Thanks to a new kid mode, parents can restrict when and for how long kids can use the tablet whilte in parent-use mode, the Canvas Tabby acts like a normal Android tablet. Users can create up to three kids profiles and the tablet is designed to be used by kids between 2 years and 8 years of age. Users can setup timing in such a way that kid can only access games or their favorite sections if they complete a specific task (say, 30 minutes of Mathematics) and can also block content, check performance report etc.

The display is 7” in size and has 1024×600 pixel resolution. There is only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The rear camera is a 2mp unit while the front facing camera has VGA resolution. Other specs include 3200mAh battery, dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth v2.1, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.
