Xiaomi launches Redmi 3 Pro

Xiaomi has launched a Pro variant of the Redmi 3 smartphone and it has been named as Redmi 3 Pro. The pro variant comes with improvements in memory and a fingerprint sensor. The device will go on sale in China from April 6. The smartphone will be available in Gray, Silver and Gold color options, for a price of 899 yuan. There is no information about global availability of the device.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro features a 5-inch HD display with 1280×720 pixels resolution. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI 7 on top and is powered by a 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The original Redmi 3 came with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of inbuilt storage.

The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, 1080p video recording capability, PDAF and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. The Redmi 3 Pro comes with a full metal magnesium alloy unibody design and features a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The device is powered by a 4,100mAh battery. The Redmi 3 Pro is a dual-SIM smartphone. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, GPRS/ EDGE, Micro-USB, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

The Redmi 3 Pro is priced at 899 yuan ($140). The device will go on sale starting April 4, the day when Xiaomi’s Mi Fan Festival kicks off.
