Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus Launched In China With Dual Cameras, Snapdragon 821

Xiaomi today launched the Mi 5S Plus alongside the Mi 5S and the new MiTV. The new Mi 5S Plus is a phablet version of the Mi 5S and comes with a big 5.7 inch Full HD display and a dual camera setup using Sony sensors. The Mi 5S Plus runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with MIUI 8 out of the box.

The Mi 5S Plus comes with a 5.7 inch full HD IPS LCD display, giving you a pixel density of ~386 PPI. Xiaomi has used the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC for its Mi 5S series. Just like the Mi 5S, the Mi 5S Plus uses a Snapdragon 821 processor with 2 Kryo cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and 2 Kryo cores clocked at 1.6 GHz. It is assisted by an Adreno 530 GPU.

Xiaomi has used a dual camera setup for the first time in its smartphones. The Mi 5S Plus comes with two 13 MP Sony sensors on the back, with a Digital Image Processor that helps combine the best elements captured by two sensors to create one high quality image. While one 13 MP sensor captures regular, coloured photos, the second 13 MP sensor captures images in black and white. The rear camera is assisted by Phase Detection Autofocus and dual tone dual LED flash. Just like the Mi 5S, the Mi 5S Plus can record 4K videos and ultra slow-mo 720p videos at 120 FPS.

On the front, you get a 4 MP camera with a 2um pixel size and support for up to 1080p recording.

Coming to the memory department, the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus comes in two variants – the first one with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB UFS 2.0 storage, and the second one with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.0 storage.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE and NFC. The phone comes with a 3800 mAh battery and a USB Type C reversible connector. It supports Quick Charge 3.0.

Pricing And Availability

The Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus starts at CNY 2,299 ($430/INR 23,000) for the 4 GB / 64 GB storage version and CNY 2,599 ($390/INR 26,000) for the 6 GB / 128 GB version. The phone goes on sale in China on September 29.
