Razer Blade gaming notebook gets supercharged upgrade

Razer Blade is one of the best gaming notebooks released in past few years. Razer stunned the world when they announced gaming ultrabook, Razer Blade Stealth. Today, Razer has announced a much needed upgrade to the Razer Blade. The new model is powered by 6th generation Intel Core i7 quad core CPU, has NVIDIA GeForce GTX970M GPU (with 6GB of VRAM) and has 16GB of screaming fast DDR4 dual channel RAM. Base model with 256GB SSD is priced at $1,999. You can place pre-order for the Razer Blade 2016 variant from today and the units will ship in the month of April.

The display comes with stunning 3200 x 1800 Quad HD + resolution 14″ IGZO panel with LED backlighting. The new PCIe SSD used is up to three times faster than the regular SSDs. Similar to the keyboard in Razer Blade Sealth ultrabook, the keyboard on this model comes with individually backlit RGB keys. This means that you get to have millions of color options for anti ghosted keyboard. Lighting effects are controlled/enabled using Razer Synapse software and SDK is available for developers to create in-game lighting effects on the keyboard.

If you think the built in GPU is not enough, all you need to do is get the Razer Core external graphics enclosure (will be available in near future) and add a powerful graphics card for desktop class graphics. The Core also comes with extra USB 3.0 ports and ethernet port. The Core is connected to Blade using USB-C port that offers up to 40Gbps data transfer speed.

“We are getting much more aggressive as far as price point, but that hasn’t come at a cost to the performance or design of the Razer Blade,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “We’ve improved nearly every aspect of the 14-inch laptop, from CPU and GPU performance to system memory and port selection. Chroma technology unlocks an unprecedented, immersive experience on a gaming laptop.”
