Dell announce upgrades to Latitude series at CES 2016

Dell’s Latitude lineup of affordable and mid range notebooks has received a major update this week. Dell, at CES 2016, has announced referesh for Latitude 13 7000 Ultrabook, Latitude 12 7000 2-in-1 and Latitude 11 5000 2-in-1 notebooks. Dell has mentioned that the emphasis is on created beautiful yet powerful products for fast paced and demanding work places.

Latitude 11 2-in-1

“For more than 20 years, Latitude products have been a leading choice among commercial customers worldwide for their unmatched security, manageability, reliability and support features,” said Kirk Schell, vice president and general manager, commercial client solutions, Dell. “With the new Latitude line, we are delivering commercial devices employees will desire for being thinner, lighter and more capable than many of the most popular consumer products without compromising on the security and manageability requirements of IT.”

As the name suggests, Latitude 13 7000 is super thin 13” business calss ultrabook. Dell has used unidirectional 40ton carbon fiber to reduce the footprint and thickness of the notebook. Latitude 13 7000 series will come with the popular InfinityEdge (edge-to-edge panel) display, USB Type-C port, smart card reader, fingerprint reader. Powered by Intel Core M chip, the Latitude 13 7000 series can be conjured to have up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of SSD. The base model weights just 1.26 kilograms and has 12.22 x 8.47 x 0.74 inches / 310 x 215 x 19mm (W x D x H) dimension. There are three USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, SD card reader, HDMI port, mini DisplayPort, SIM card slot. The base model’s display has a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and users can opt to get a FullHD display or a QHD+ (3200 x 1800) resolution touch screen display.

Latitude 13 7000 Series

Dell Latitude 12 7000 Series 2-in-1, on the other hand, is a 2-in-1 notebook powered by 6th generation Intel Core M processor and can be configured to have 4GB or 8GB of memory. Latitude 12 7000 2-in-1 uses magnetic latches (no pins, no locks) to connect to the keyboard cover. The 2-in-1 tablet can be configured to have an UltraHD 4K resolution UltraSharp touch screen display. Viewing content on this display would be truly spectacular. Latitude 7000 series 2-in-1 dimension is 11.5″ x 7.6″ x 0.3″ and weighs 1.6 pounds.

Latitude 12 7000 2-in-1

Latitude 11 5000 Series 2-in-1 is a 10.8” 2-in-1 notebook and weighs just 1.56 pounds. Powered by Intel Core M5-6Y57, Latitude 11 5000 series 2-in-1 can be configured to have up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of SSD. List of ports include a USB Type-C port, USB 3.0 port, microSDXC card reader, microHDMI port, micro SIM card slot. There is an 8mp rear camera and a 5mp front facing camera.
