Western Digital introduces high performance NVMe SSD – WD Black SN750

Western Digital is a leader in the computer memory and storage segment. Together with SanDisk, Western Digital is the market segment leader globally and in India. They have a wide array of solutions ranging from the tiny memory card that goes into your mobile to the super fast hard disk and storage solutions for personal and enterprise computing requirements.

The processors, RAM and GPU on your computer may be powerful. But if your storage is not fast, you have hit a bottleneck. The SATA interface can do a max of 600 mbps and hence there is latency issues. Even if you introduce a SATA SSD in the system, the max you can get is still 600 mbps. This bottle neck can be removed with the NVMe technology which supports up to 1 GB/s per lane. While there are many NVMe based SSD solutions in the market, Western Digital has introduced a new product.

Western Digital has announced the launch of their high speed SSD device WD Black SN750 NVMe in India. This is a high performance product suitable for gamers and media content creators. It promises a Read speed of upto 3470 MB/s and a write speed of upto 3000 MB/s. . It comes in 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB storage capacity options. It is available with and without heat sink. If your mother board already has a heat sink for M.2 PCIe slot, you can get the one without heat sink. Heat sink models is only for Desktops while the model without heatsink can be used on laptops as well.

For business computing purposes, where speed is a key factor, Western DIgital has introduced WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD memory. It is available in 250 and 500 GB storage variants. It has a maximum read speed of 1700 MB/s and write speed of 1450 MB/s.

Both the products are come with 5 years limited warranty. Price of the SN750 NVMe SSD starts at Rs 13000 and goes upto Rs 50000. The WD Blue NVMe SSD is priced at Rs 8000 for the 250 GB and Rs 14000 for the 500 GB. WD also has WD Green M.2 and SATA SSD solution for the budget users ranging between Rs 5000 and Rs 9500.
