Huawei P8Max comes with a massive 6.8 inch screen, thin bezels

Huawei has launched a new phablet today, called the P8Max. The Chinese giant was expected to launch a phone that was small and budget friendly, but it turns out the rumours got it completely wrong. The Huawei P8Max is a giant phablet almost bordering on being a tablet with its 6.8 inch 1080p display.

Made from aerospace grade aluminium, the Huawei P8Max comes with an aluminium unibody design and Huawei’s own Kirin line of processors. Other specs of the Huawei P8Max include a 13 MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a custom 7 layer heat conducting structure to keep the device cooler by at least 5°C than its rivals.

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop with Emotion UI on top
  • 6.8 inch IPS LCD full HD display, 1920 x 1080 pixels, ~324 PPI
  • 2.2 GHz 64-bit octa core HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor, Mali T628 GPU
  • 13 MP camera, dual LED flash, Optical Image Stabilization, 1080p recording at 30 FPS; front facing 5 MP camera
  • 3 GB RAM, 16 / 64 GB internal memory expandable with a microSD card
  • Dual SIM, LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, DLNA
  • 4360 mAh battery

One advantage of using such a huge display is that the phone can house a much, much larger battery without compromising on the aesthetics. We don’t have any usable time ratings from the company for the battery yet, but the advantage should be nearly offset by the huge display. The company estimates that it could last around a day and a half of heavy usage or 2 days of normal usage, numbers which are ambiguous at best.

Huawei P8Max will be launched in 30 countries across the world – €550 will get you the 16 GB version and €650 will get you the 64 GB version.
