Airtel and Xiaomi experience – procuring Redmi Note 4G
Purchasing a Xiaomi product in India is not an easy task. You only get one chance in a week and in a matter of seconds, the stock is cleared. Thanks to the collaboration between Xiaomi and Airtel, you can now get the Redmi Note 4G, the super affordable 4G LTE device in a matter of minutes. In this post, we explain how to purchase the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G smartphone via Airtel. We call it ‘The Airtel and Xiaomi Experience’.

It has been a while since Airtel launched their 4G connectivity in cities (16 cities as of now) across India but we are yet to see wide adoption and a reason for that is the lack of good 4G LTE smartphones in low and mid range. Until now! With the launch of phones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, Yu Yureka, Lenovo Vibe X2, HTC Desire 820, Lenovo A6000, 4G LTE services are set to be mainstream this year. Though Airtel is the only operator in India providing 4G LTE services (that too in limited regions), users do not have to pay extra to enjoy 4G services. The 4G and 3G data tariff is the same. If you are an Airtel customer, you can walk in to nearest Airtel outlet, exchange your 3G SIM for a 4G SIM, get the SIM activated in 5 minutes and walk out with a 4G connection (if your phone supports 4G else your phone will continue using 3G). Walk in with an anxious face and walk out with a big smile on your face.
Currently, Airtel is running an offer on 4G plan where new Redmi Note 4G buyers will get double data on Airtel 4G plan for 6 months. Say, if you go for 1GB plan for 250/-, you get 2GB of data. This makes effective price of Redmi Note 4G Rs.8,500/- and higher your 4G plan is, the less the effective price is for your Redmi Note 4G.
For non-Airtel customers, getting the phone will take just a little bit longer as the verification has to be done (ID and address, part of TRAI’s mandatory checks) for a new connection. Airtel stores will be selling the Redmi Note 4G in Mumbai, NCR (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad), Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata initially. The phones will be available in Airtel stores in more towns subsequently.
Do note that bookings for Redmi Note 4G (via Airtel) are not open for Airtel prepaid and non-
Airtel customers. You have to migrate your Airtel prepaid plan to postpaid plan and if you are using a non-Airtel mobile connection, you have to get an Airtel postpaid connection with a 3G plan enabled.
How to register for Redmi Note 4G:
Head to http://www.airtel.in/mi/enter_details.html?ver=3, enter your details (name, mobile number, mail id, city, prepaid/postpaid user etc), agree to terms and conditions and click on Continue
You will receive one time password to your mobile phone. Enter the OTP in this page and click on Continue.
You will be asked when and at which store you want to pick up your phone.
Head to the store at the designated time, show your booking id, pay the amount and collect the phone and the sim.
If you are in a hurry, you can head to the Airtel store, register using in-store computer, give the booking id to Airtel representative and initiate purchase process. Also, every Friday, you can walk in to the store, buy the phone and upgrade to 4G plan without the need to register for device sale online. Earlier, this was limited to 3 hours on Friday but now, the offer is open for whole day. Walk in, buy the device and walk out.
Overall, the process is extremely simple. The site is responsive, there were no crashes as there is no rush. With a killer price for the phone and mouth watering 4G data offer, there is no other device in India that can match Redmi 4G + Airtel 4G in value for money.
