Redmi 8 launched in India for Rs 7999*

A few years ago, if you are in the market for mobile under Rs 10k, you would find yourself compromising on every single department. But this year, the sub 10k segment is turning out to the best segment to buy a mobile. Redmi 8 has been launched in India as a successor for Redmi 7, packed with features and priced at an introductory price of Rs 7999. As MKBHD says, good phones are getting cheap, cheap phones are getting good. Redmi 8 is looking good and priced cheap. Here are the details.

Redmi 7 was launched in May 2019 with similar pricing but on a 2 GB RAM variant. Redmi 7 was powered by Snapdragon 632 processor, but Redmi 8 has opted for Snapdragon 439, similar to Redmi 8A. But it is good to see that the Redmi 8 starts at 3 GB RAM variant. Also, it has a Type C port for charging. It supports 18W fast charging but comes with a 10W charger in the box. Xiaomi sells 18W chargers on its portal for Rs 449. Redmi 8 has both fingerprint sensors and face unlock. It also has the IR port and wireless FM radio feature, which is popular among Redmi users.

Just like Redmi 7, Redmi 8 will have a gloss back finish made of polycarbonate. But similar to K20 series, the Redmi 8 will have an aura texture pattern decorating the back. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the mobile has P2i coating for protection against accidental water damages.

Redmi 8 is priced at Rs 7999 for the 3/32 variant and Rs 9999 for the 4/64 variant. As an introductory offer, the 4/64 variant will be available for Rs 7999. Redmi 8 will be available in Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black color variants starting 00:01 AM (midnight) on 12th October via Mi.com, Mi Homes and Flipkart. It will also go on sale across offline stores soon.
