Samsung Galaxy A7 launched, comes in metal with a 5.5 inch display

Samsung is on a launch-spree, of late. After launching four new phones – two each in the new A and E series, the Korean giant has launched a new phablet today called the Galaxy A7. This is a 5.5 inch phone and comes in metal.

The Galaxy A7 builds on the Alpha announced last year – Samsung was in a desperate need of a phone that was metallic and looked good at the same time. It’s software woes are still being solved, but the company seems to have covered a lot of base in terms of hardware design. The Alpha was accorded as the best looking phone to come out from Samsung in the recent history, and the company seems to have understood the point.

The Galaxy A7 comes with a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display, with two variants using either the 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 or the 32-bit Exynos 5430 one.

  • Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz on top
  • 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display, 1280×720 pixels, ~267 PPI
  • 64-bit Octa core Snapdragon 615 processor or 32-bit Exynos 5430 processor
  • 13 MP camera, LED flash, 1080p recording; front facing 5 MP camera
  • 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, expandable with a microSD card
  • LTE, optional Dual SIM, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
  • 2600 mAh battery

The battery is underwhelming – they could have put in a bigger battery considering the sheer size of the phone. Otherwise, the only other attraction is the big screen and the metal unibody. Samsung hasn’t released any information about the pricing and availability so far.
