Roku Streaming Stick gets quad core CPU

Roku Streaming Stick is the pocket sized TV streaming device that competes with the likes of Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV stick. The Roku Streaming Stick has received a major upgrade and is now powered by powerful Quad Core processor, with 8x more processing power when compared to its predecessor. The new Roku Streaming Stick is also smaller in size, offers private listening through Roku Mobile application. The new Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600) is available for pre-order starting today from roku.com and BestBuy.com for $49.99 and will be released later this month.

The Roku Streaming Stick now runs Roku OS 7.1, new version of the operating system that will be available on the devices when it begins shipping this month and will be rolled out to existing Roku devices soon. Roku OS 7.1 improves search and discovery experience, adds new categories in Roku Feed. Th enew version also allows users to choose to watch a new TV show or popular movie immediately and also folllow the same in Roku Feed to get automatic updates when the movie/TVshow is availabale to watch for free.

Private listening is a new feature in Roku’s Mobile application that allows users to listen to the stream through wired or wireless headphones connected to the phone. Users can use ‘Play On Roku’ feature to stream personal videos, music and photos on big screen.
