OPPO ColorOS 5.2 : How to share internet from phone

Every smartphone comes with option to share internet connection. This means that you can setup your phone as a wireless router. This helps a lot for those who are always on the go and need to connect their laptop or tablet to internet. Tethering works when your phone is connected to the Internet via mobile data or Wi-Fi network.

Personal Hotspot

This setting will let you share your phone’s mobile data connection to other devices. This will increase your phone’s data usage.

Go to Settings application.

Click on ‘Other Wireless Connections’, select ‘personal hotspot’. To enable hotspot internet sharing, click on the slider and it turns green.

Click on ‘Personal Hotspot Settings’ and choose your hotspot name, password etc.

When a device is connected to your phone’s Hotspot, you will notice a blue band at the top of your phone screen.

Use Wi-Fi Tethering

This will turn your phone into a Wi-Fi router and in this case, your phone’s Wi-Fi connection is shared to other devices. A maximum of 10 devices can be connected but cannot be used simultaneously with features such as OPPO Share, Wi-Fi Direct, or Multi-screen Interaction.

Go to  [Settings] > [Other Wireless Connections] > and enable [Wi-Fi Tethering].

Click on ‘Wi-Fi Tethering Settings’ to configure security options, network name and password.

 

If no device is connected to your phone via Wi-Fi tethering, the tether will turn off automatically after 10 minutes.

USB Tethering.

  1. Use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer.
  2. Go to [Settings] > [Other Wireless Connections] > [USB Tethering], click on toggle so that it turns green in color.
  3. From your OS’s network settings, select the Oppo phone as internet device.

Bluetooth Tethering

  1. Go to [Settings] > [Other Wireless Connections] and enable [Bluetooth Tethering].
  2. In [Settings] > [Bluetooth], pair your phone with the device.
  3. Click  next to the device’s name, then click [Internet Connection Sharing].
