If there is one game that every person that ever used an Android or iOS would have played, that is Angry Birds. The games were so popular since the first release in the year 2008, that we saw soft toys, balloons, pillows and what not that are based on Angry Birds characters. Kids still love playing with these soft toys. Lately though, Rovio has been struggling to keep up the momentum as more innovative games have taken the spotlight off Rovio.

This week, Rovio announced that they will layoff 110 employees and shut down their game development studio in Tampere, Finland due to fall in net profit for past 2 years and mis-calculating growth of company. Rovio will continue its operations from Espoo, Finland. Two month’s ago Mikael hed, CEO of Rovio announced that they were going to cut down workforce by a maximum of 130.

“We are an entrepreneurial company and have been exploring multiple areas. We have been building our team on assumptions of faster growth than have materialized. As a result, we announced today that we plan to simplify our organization around our three key businesses with the highest growth potential: games, media, and consumer products. Unfortunately, we also need to consider possible employee reductions of a maximum of 130 people in Finland (approximately 16% of workforce)”, said, Mikael
