Western Digital release My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS
My Cloud EX2 Ultra is a new dual bay network attached storage (NAS) system from Western Digital, the popular hard drive maker. Designed from ground up, the new NAS is tailor made for those who need automated sync of data across computers, with multiple backup options. My Cloud EX2 can support up to 12TB of data storage and also supports USB 3.0 compatible hard drives via USB expansion ports. Users can manage the NAS using the mobile application that is available on Apple’s App Store and on Google Play. My Cloud EX2 is priced at $159.99 for diskless unit, $349.99 USD for 4 TB, $449.99 USD for 8 TB and $599.99 USD for 12 TB. The NAS comes with two year warranty on diskless unit and 3 year warranty for pre-configured unit.

Drive management options include RAID 0, RAID 1; JBOD and spanning modes, while data protection options include NAS to NAS, USB, cloud or LAN/WAN backup. The My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS comes preconfigured in RAID 1 mode to help protect data right from the start and is easily configurable into other data protection modes.
WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra comes with simple file sharing where users can send private links to other users and enable read and/or write access access to the data. The application allow easy management of user accounts, feature customization, monitoring etc with ease, thanks to the dashboard. Other features include integrated FTP and WebDAV server, backup servers, peer to peer download server, support for Microsoft’s Active Directory. Users can also setup CMS like WordPress, Joomla and other apps like aMule, Plex etc on the NAS.
