Panasonic Toughpad rugged phones and tablet released in India

Panasonic Toughpad series is the best when it comes to rugged smartphones and tablets. Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1 are two such models (one running Windows 10 while the other running Android) meant for those who need a smartphone while working in demanding conditions and conditions where the phone will get wet, be it mud or water. Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 on the other hand is a rugged tablet. All three products are now available in India. The bummer though is that the FZ-F1 is priced at Rs.1,09,000/-, the FZ-N1 is priced at Rs.99,000 and the FZ-A2 tablet is priced at Rs.1,20,000/-. But yeah that is the price you pay if you are going to use the phone in rugged way and in extreme conditions.

The only difference between Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 and the FZ-N1 is the OS that they run. There is no other difference. Both are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip, have 2GB of RAM and a 4.7″ 720p HD display. The Android OS is 5.1.1 Lollipop while Windows OS is the Widows 10 IoT Mobile Enterprise variant. One big feature for both phones is the angular 1D/2D rear mounted Bar code reader. This is needed in manufacturing, transportation industries (for example) where the conditions can be harsh and one needs a handy bar code scanner. Other specifications include 3200mAh battery with QuickCharge, 8mp rear camera, 5mp front facing camera, NFC, 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Dual SIM card slots, options 6200mAh long life battery back, microSD card expansion slot.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 tablet on the other hand, runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and is powered by Intel Atom X5-Z8550 chip. There is 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage onboard. There is an 8mp rear camera and a 2mp front facing camera. The display is a FullHD 10.1″ panel.

“Enterprise and government users are looking to do more with handhelds than ever before. The majority of handheld tablet solutions in market today are using an antiquated OS and are vastly underpowered. Additionally, older devices aren’t compatible with today’s standard enterprise applications, offer poor voice and data features and are larger and heavier than they need to be. The rugged handheld devices give companies an up-to-date, powerful, flexible and purpose-built solution, an excellent option that will improve efficiency, productivity and bottom-line performance for years to come.”, said, Vijay Wadhwan, Associate Director, System and Solutions Business, Panasonic India.
