HP announce super thin and lightweight EliteBook Folio ultrabook

Today at CES 2016, HP has announced EliteBook Folio, the thinnest and lightest notebook from HP. The new Folio is 15% lighter than the HP EliteBook 1020 business class notebook. The Folio is just 12.4mm thick and weighs under a kilogram. EliteBook Folio comes with a 12.5” display and thanks to the new 180 degree piano hinge, can be setup completely flat. The HP EliteBook Folio is expected to be available in March at HP.com starting at $999.

Folio is powered by 6th Generation Intel chips (up to Core M vPro) and can stay on for up to 10 hours. EliteBook Folio can be configured to have UltraHD 4K resolution display and the edge-to-edge panel comes with 95% of the AdobeRGB color gamut. Other specifications include Premium Keyboard, Windows 10 gesture-enabled clickpad, dual USB Type C ports, Thunderbolt 3 port. HP has continued their partnership with Bang & Olufsen to create custom tune the audio for premium audio experience. Compared to older HP EliteBook devices, there is a 40% increase in loudness.

“Microsoft and HP engineers worked closely on the development of the EliteBook Folio for more than a year to deliver the best Skype for Business experience,” said Eric Wilfrid, director of product, Skype for Business, Microsoft. “The result is a device that offers a premium collaboration experience when speaking or listening to calls using Skype for Business.”

HP has also announced third generation EliteBook 1040 and EliteBook 800 notebooks, termed EliteBook 1040 G3 and EliteBook 800 G3 . The new notebooks are powered by 6th generation Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors and run Windows 10 Pro operating system. Other specs include PCIe Gen3 SSD, DDR4 memory, HP Clear Sound Amp. EliteBook 1040 G3 comes in 14” size. EliteBook 800 comes in 12.5”, 14” and 15.6” sizes and resolution can hit up to UltraHD. EliteBook 1040 on the other hand comes in either FullHD or QuadHD screen options. While 1040 G3 has all aluminum diamond cut design, EliteBook 800 has all-new silver magnesium and aluminum body to achieve a thinner, lighter and durable design.

The HP EliteBook 1040 G3 is expected to be available in January starting at $1,199. The HP EliteBook 800 G3 series is expected to be available in January starting at $94918 . HP USB-C Travel Dock for the HP EliteBook Folio is expected to be available in March for $119. HP Notebook Power Bank is expected to be available in January for $129.
