To gain miles in Milez, one need to drive at a speed above 5mph and the application should be left open. Miles are added as long as the application stays in the foreground and as long as the phone is ignored. The moment another application is opened, the counter stops. The money earned will be transfered to PayPal account.

Milez application is based on technology from SafeDrive. SafeDrive app is similar, rewards drivers for not using the phone while driving. Instead of money, users earn SafeDrive points that can be used to exchange for discounts. According to SafeDrive, rewarding drivers for safe driving can reduce up to 60% of phone usage while driving a vehicle. This study involved 700 young drivers.

Tudor Cobalas, co-founder Milez: “We’re happy to hMilave listened to more than 10,000 drivers in the US that pushed us to develop a version for teenagers. 11 teens die daily in the US and many more are injured. We see a big potential in solving this problem by creating a new mean to get cash.”
