Swatch announces Tissot Smart-Touch

Tissot Smart-TouchSwiss watchmaker Swatch Group has announced the launch of its first true smartwatch. The smartwatch has been named as Tissot Smart-Touch. This is an actual smartwatch unlike the Bellamy and Touch Zero One from last year which only offered payment facilities and were focused on volleyball players

The Tissot Smart-Touch is based on the outgoing T-Touch Solar, and allows users to connect the watch to their smartphone and other external services like weather stations. It may be priced around the price of the T-Touch Solar.

One of the feature that stands out is being able to combine the watch’s compass capabilities with the phone’s navigation and GPS features. What this means is that the hands as well as screen on the Smart-Touch dial will offer directions and tracking features.

There is also a Smart-Touch FindIt feature in which accessory fob can be attached to various items and then tracked by the watch. It also includes a Smart-Touch Station, which is a small solar-powered weather station that can offer highly localized weather information like temperature, humidity, and air quality to the Smart-Touch watch and the smartphone app.

The watch has exposed photovoltaic cells which use ambient light to charge the battery. The battery can last up to a year on a single charge and it is great that it can be recharged using solar power.

The T-Touch Expert Solar comes with an estimated retail price of $1,100 – $1,200.
