Samsung regains the top spot in the US thanks to the Galaxy S6

Samsung is now the top smartphone vendor in the US again, thanks to the company’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S6. It comes amidst reports that Samsung is seeing energetic sales of its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagships. The company also just grabbed a patent for Galaxy S6 Edge+, hinting at a successor of its well received curved smartphone.

The report, released by Kantar, shows that iOS has dipped slightly, with Android and Windows Phone both splitting the share between themselves equally. iOS’ loss is Android and Windows Phone’s gain, which should be especially interesting for Microsoft. In addition to iOS’ loss, Android and Windows Phone took an equal gain each from the ‘Other’ category which holds an almost negligent share now.

In Europe, iOS continues to rise, eating solely into Android’s share at least in the Top 5 European countries. Here again, there is good news for Microsoft and Windows Phone – WP grew to 10% in these Top 5 European countries.
