Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Launched With 5.7″ Curved Display, Snapdragon 821, 6 GB RAM

Xiaomi took the wraps off its much awaited curved smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2, succeeding last year’s Mi Note, comes with a 5.7 inch curved display . It is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to feature a curved display. The phone looks a lot like Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7, but Xiaomi has used a few other design cues to distinguish their Mi Note 2. The phone also comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 6 GB RAM.

Starting off with the design, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes with curves on both the front as well as the back. On the front, the display is curved on the sides to give you an enhanced viewing experience. On the back, the curves are supposed to help you grip the smartphone easily. This becomes more important due to the size of the phone itself.

Back to the specs, the Mi Note 2 comes with a 5.7 inch curved OLED display of full HD resolution. Xiaomi continues to use full HD displays even for its flagships. At 1920 x 1080 pixels on a 5.7 inch display, you are looking at a pixel density of ~386 PPI.

Talking about the processor, you get a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. Snapdragon 821 is an slightly overclocked version of the Snapdragon 820. On the memory front, you get two versions – 4 GB RAM with 64 GB UFS 2.0 storage and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB UFS 2.0 storage. There is no support for microSD cards on the Mi Note 2.

Coming to the cameras, you get a 22.5 MP Sony Exmor IMX218 sensor on the back along with dual LED flash. The rear camera comes with EIS digital stabilization for videos up to 4K resolution. It also comes with a 3-axis gyroscope for improved jitter compensation. On the front, you get an 8 MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.

Xiaomi has priced the Mi Note 2 as follows:

  • 4GB + 64GB: RMB 2799 (~$413)
  • 6GB + 128GB : RMB 3299 , (~$487)
  • 6GB + 128GB Global : RMB 3499 (~$516)
