Airtel offers Galaxy S9 with downpayment of 9900 with 24 month plan

But its not all sunshine

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are definitely the best Android smartphones to get right now. The bummer though is that the S9 costs 57,900 rupees and the S9 Plus costs 65,000 rupees. Airtel has a solution for you. You pay Rs.9,990 for S9 orS9+ and based on storage, you can opt for a Rs.2,499/- per month plan or Rs.2,799/- per month plan. Great plans? Read on to know the hidden details.

What does the monthly plan cover

The plan includes device EMI cost, 80GB of data per month, free on year Amazon Prime subscription for 999/-, free handset damage protection and unlimited calling.

How Does It Work

First, you need to commit to Airtel Postpaid connection for 24 months. So, you pay 2499 or 2799 for 24 months. You do get 80 GB of data per month, unlimited calls etc. All you need to do is select the variant and apply for load approval. Once loan is approved, you pay the downpayment and sign up for 24 month post paid plan. Then, the phone is delivered to your chose address.

Is this worth enrolling for?

Let us do the calculation. Lets pick the Samsung Galaxy S9 with 64GB storage. I end up paying 9900 as EMI and every month, I pay 2499. The total comes to Rs.69,876. That is more than 10k that I am paying. About a year, this would be amazing given that this is for unlimited calls and 2.5GB data per day. It would’ve costed a bomb. But things have changed so much that this 10k feels too high. Here are the alternatives.

Samsung is offering 0% EMI offer if you purchase the same phone directly from them. For Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB variants, the total you pay is Rs.57,900. Coming to monthly plans, if you pay Rs.349/- per month, you get same features from Airtel (n/w related) and you end up paying 8376 rupees. The total comes around Rs.66,276. And if you are not tied to stick to Airtel. If the n/w goes bonkers, you can go to other n/w. Take Jio for example, you pay Rs.449 for 90 days. Thats 3592 for 2 years. The total amount you end up paying is Rs. 61492/-. This is way better deal when compared to what you pay here. But at the end of day, it is all up to you which plan to offer.
