[CES 2015] Lenovo updates Yoga series of tablets and ultrabooks


AT CES 2015, Lenovo has announced updates to Yoga series of tablets and all-in-ones. Thinkpad YOGA is a 12” notebook optimized for businesses and a 14”/15”model for pro-sumers, YOGA Tablet 2 is an 8” tablet running Windows and YOGA 3 is a 11”/14” notebook series built for those who are on the move. YOGA Tablet 2 will cost $299 and will be available from January via BestBuy and Lenovo. YOGA 3 11 models will be available in March, with a starting price of $799 for 11” model and $979 for 14” model. Thinkpad YOGA 12” and 15” models will be available from February, priced at $999 and $1,199 respectively. Thinkpad YOGA 14” model will be available from May for starting price of $1,199.

The new YOGA Tablet 2 comes with AnyPen Technology that lets users use any pen of pencil as a handwriting tool (not just digitized pen) without the need for a stylus. Similar to outgoing YOGA 2 models, the new variants work in Hold, Tilt, Stand and Hang usage modes. The tablet has two front facing speakers, a Wolfson Master Hi-Fi noise reduction tech, Dolby audio. Powered by new Intel Atom processor, YOGA Tablet 2 comes with Windows 8.1 operating system. The 8” display has FullHD resolution while the battery life is up to 15 hours.

YOGA 3 will be available in 11” and 14” variants and buyers can choose from Clementine Orange, Platinum Silver, new Chalk White or Ebony Black colors. The 14” variant, though having a 14” display is built in a 13” chassis. 11” variant weights just 1.1kgs and is just 15.8mm thin. YOGA 3 comes with two-hinge design  (that made YOGA series popular among ultrabook lovers) that allows 360 degree flexibility for the ultrabook. Similar to YOGA Tablet 2 , YOGA 3 can be used in Laptop, Stand, Tent and Tablet modes. YOGA 3 ultrabooks will be powered by 5th generation Intel Core  processors. Thanks to a FullHD display, stereo speakers and Waves audio, users are set to have great multimedia experience. Also, for book lovers, Lenovo included Harmony intelligent software that provides automatic brightness adjustment when reading a book, enabled motion control to switch between pages, optimizes audio settings and also recommends new applications.

ThinkPad YOGA is available in 12”, 14” and 15” models. 12” model support digitizer/pen option, 14” model supports ActivePen technology, ThinkPad YOGA 15 supports optional Intel RealSense 3D camera. All these models, similar to other YOGA models can be operated in four modes, full day battery life is a boon for those who are always on the move. The 12” variant weight just 1.5 kgs and is only 19mm thick. ThinkPad YOGA series is now powered by 5th generation Intel Core processors (upto Core i7 processors) and run Windows 8.1 operating system.
