This company has created a fitness tracker for kids

Garmin Vívofit jr is a fitness tracker cum motivator tailor-made for kids. Yes, we are living in a world where even kids need the motivation to burn some calories. The Vivofit Jr comes in colorful kid-friendly design and even if used 24/7, the battery will last a year. Garmin has added a 60-minute daily play goal to make every kid play games for an hour each day. According to Garmin, habits that are formed early in life can keep one healthy for life. The vívofit jr.  is designed for ages four to nine and is priced at $79.99. Available in black, broken lava, digi camo, purple strike and real flower band patterns, the fitness band will be available from Fall’16.

“We’re excited to announce our first wearable just for kids – the vívofit jr.,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “The vívofit jr. was designed with kids and parents in mind, from its durable and comfortable band to its engaging app that motivates kids to get moving, while keeping parents involved.”

The Garmin Vivofit Jr is a one piece band and has water/swim resistance. The built-in display is sunlight-readable. The tracker can record steps, sleep pattern, active time etc. The watch face shows time, date, reminders to help kid stay active. While it is a good idea to have a fitness band for kids too, the very need to have a fitness band for kid can be a disturbing. Instead of relying of fitness band to make a kid get healthier lifestyle, we strongly suggest  to change the habits instead.

The Garmin Vivofit Jr comes with a free smartphone application (for parents) that allows unlocking a mobile adventure trail for kids, provides task management for parents. The application can track fitness of multiple children, track activity etc. Parents can create comptition among kids by creating simple step challenges.
