Gionee announce Elife E8 and Marathon M5 smartphones that run Android

At an event this week, Gionee has announce the Elife E8 high end Android smartphone and the Marathon M5 monster battery life phones. Elife E8 is a phablet with 6” QHD display while Marathon M5 comes with 720p 5.5” display. The best part of the Marathon M5 is the dual 3010 mAh batteries which supports fast charge. Thanks to the dual charging chips, both the batteries are charged at the same time. Even with two batteries, the phone is just 8.5mm thick. Marathon M5 will cost 2299 Yen while Elife E8 will cost 3999 Yen. Marathon M5 will be on sale from 25th of June and Elife E8 will be on sale from 15th of July.

Elife E8 is powered by Mediatek X10 series MT6795 chip (octal core CPU and PowerVR G6200 GPU). There is 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The 24 mp camera has build in opitical image stabilization and can record videos in 2160p resolution @ 30fps. Selfie lover are going to love this phone, thanks to its 8mp front facing camera. Elife E8 will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Amigo 3.1 overlay UI. The QHD display is an AMOLED panel with 490ppi pixel density and will be a treat to use.

Marathon M5 is powered by a quad core processor, has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The display on this one too is AMOLED and has 267 ppi. The dual battery did add lot of weight and so the phone weight 213 grams. There are dual SIM card slots and a microSD card can be used for storage expansion. There is a 13mp camera at the back and a 5mp camera at the front.
