Google acqui-hires media backup app Odysee to bolster Google+

Google’s continued to dedicate resources towards its social network, Google+. In its latest acquisition, the Mountain View has acqui-hired Odysee, a photo and video backup app. The developers of Odysee will be joining the Google+ team to make the social network’s media management even better.

Odysee

We are excited to share that the Odysee Platform Team will be joining the Google+ Team.

Odysee’s vision was to be the easiest way for everyone to capture unlimited memories and access them everywhere. We are very excited to join Google where we’ll continue to focus on building amazing products that people love.

Our deepest thanks to every one of our users. To help you with the transition, the Odysee service will continue till Feb 23rd and soon after that all your photos and videos will be available as a downloadable archive.

The Odysee Team

As part of the acquisition, the Odysee apps have been removed from the two app stores – iOS and Android. You get two weeks’ time to continue to manage your stuff on Odysee, after which it’ll shut down. You will be allowed to download your photos and videos in the form of an archive, but as of now, the apps have been pulled down.
