Kwikset Kevo lock lets you unlock the door by touching your iOS deivce
This is a very very interesting concept, something that we all wanted to happen for a long time. Our smartphones does a lot of things but have you ever wondered if it is possible for the phone to unlock the door instead of you searching for the stupid key in your bag, take it out and unlock the door? Well, Kwikset Kevo does just that. Currently compatible with iPhone 4s and 5 only, to unlock the door protected by Kevo, you only need to touch Kevo with your phone. In case you forgot your phone, you can use the Kevo Fob to unlock the phone (by touching the Fob to Kevo lock). Kevolock is powered by Unikey’s technology.
If you are not the only one living in the house, you can send eKey to your buddies and family members (they must have a compatible smartphone). You and your house mates have to install Kevo App for iOS. Using Kevo App, you can send, receive and delete eKeys and also see log of lock activity and also setup notifications. Kevo is not yet avilable in the market and you can sign up for notification when the hardware is ready for retail use. The product will be launched soon in USA and Canada via Kwikset and Weiser and is compatible with iPhone 4S and 5, iPod Touch 5G, iPad 3G+ and iPad mini. Support for Android devices will be added at a future point of time. In case you lose your phone, you can re-key Kevo via web account or by logging in to the application from another phone. The lock is powered by 4 AA sized batteries and decent battery should provide power Kevo for a year.
