Microsoft releases Picturesque lockscreen app for Android

Microsoft has been releasing quite a few apps for other platforms recently, bringing first-class Office experience to iOS and Android first and then launching an excellent email app.

Picturesque

Today, the company released another new app, a lockscreen app called Picturesque. The app serves up beautiful images on the lockscreen, served up from Bing’s library. If there’s one thing to like about Bing is the beautiful images it uses on its homepage. This has existed on Windows Phone for quite some time now, so it’s nice to see make it to Android as well.

In fact, the Android version is a bit more advanced – you can change images at your will and download them to your phone. Picturesque also provides you with weather info and shortcuts to your favourite apps. There’s Bing search box as well. Swiping to the left will bring up a news/local calendar widget, which can be disabled.

If for nothing, you should give it a try just for the images you get served.
