Open Live Writer is the open source fork of Windows Live Writer

Microsoft’s Live Writer is one of the best tools for bloggers. With support for various CMS platforms like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Tumblr etc, Live Writer was indeed popular. The problem though was that the tool was often ignored by Microsoft. Today, it is announced that this tool will be replaced by ‘Open Live Writer‘. Open Live Writer is open source application based on a fork of Live Writer and the source code is already available on GitHub. The team currently working on the tool have created Twitter and Facebook accounts through which you can interact with the team.

The team has also announced that they are looking for folks to be a part of the development, marketing, community building etc and can be contacted via mail list. You can also raise bugs via GitHub Issue Tracking system. Here is the list of profiles:
