Elephone P7000 comes with a Full HD display, octa core processor for $230

Chinese OEMs are on a bit of a great run recently. After Xiaomi showed many others the way, OnePlus, Oppo, Lenovo etc emerged from the woods to launch either a new company with a great value for money device or push the existing ones to come out with exciting phones.

There is another company on the block with a really well specced phone for an extremely low price. The Elephone P7000, an unimaginatively named phone from a weirdly named company comes with a full HD display, an octa core processor and plentiful of RAM.

The Elephone P7000 comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD full HD display, 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a pixel density of ~401 PPI. With an octa core Mediatek MT6752 processor, the Elephone P7000 should have enough processing power to run a 1080p display. There is 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card. Elephone has used a 13 MP Sony camera sensor as the main camera, with a 5 MP camera on the front. There’s support for LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and the likes. A huge 3450 mAh battery should help you use the Elephone P7000 throughout the day.

What is special about the phone then, you ask? Elephone has thrown in a big surprise here – many (most) Chinese phones don’t really come with open sourced kernels, with some barely getting any sort of developer interest. Google Play services may not be present on most of them, in addition to a severely lacking support for software.

Elephone P7000 will come with support for at least seven different ROMs – stock Android Lollipop, KitKat, CyanogenMod, MIUI, Meizu Flyme OS, Huawei’s Emotion UI and the less known Freeme OS. The support for stock Android Lollipop and KitKat as well as CyanogenMod are the biggest encouraging signs here, as those ROMs are the most stable and best looking of the bunch, arguably.

If you’re interested now, you can pre-order the Elephone P7000 from the company’s official online sales channels here for $230.
